The Government of Jamaica has reaffirmed its strong commitment to transforming the education sector through targeted, sustained investments. Acknowledging past underinvestment that has limited the system’s growth, the current administration is now focused on upgrading infrastructure and strengthening the education workforce. This renewed focus is part of a broader national strategy to improve student outcomes and ensure schools are fully equipped to meet the demands of modern learning.

By enhancing facilities and expanding access to quality teaching, the government is laying a stronger foundation for educational excellence and equity. These efforts aim to bridge current gaps while securing long-term sustainability for the education system. With a clear vision for progress and inclusion, Jamaica is making bold strides toward a modern, efficient education model capable of empowering future generations.

Within this context, the National Council on Education (NCE) is calling on qualified individuals to volunteer in a crucial area of Jamaica’s education system: school governance. Join us in shaping the future. Submit your application to serve on a school board at schoolboard@nce.org.jm and play your part in transforming schools and the lives of Jamaica’s children.

About Us

The establishment of the NCE was born out of the need to have a non-partisan, national and strategically placed organisation that would "address a wide range of issues impacting the education process".
