The Government of Jamaica has taken significant steps to enhance support for secondary-level students by increasing funding for school grants and exam subsidies. This initiative forms part of a broader strategy to build a more inclusive and equitable education system. By reducing financial barriers, it ensures that more students—regardless of socio-economic background—have improved access to essential learning resources they need and are better able to participate in crucial national examinations such as the CSEC and CAPE.
This investment not only improves access but also reflects the government's ongoing commitment to educational equity and national development. By empowering students with greater opportunities to succeed, the policy reinforces the importance of inclusive education in shaping Jamaica’s future.
The establishment of the NCE was born out of the need to have a non-partisan, national and strategically placed organisation that would "address a wide range of issues impacting the education process".
